Audio Tour: I Listen

The new Salamander Portal connects the museum with the hospital. Audio maker Adriaan Severins created a sound artwork for it, linking the sounds of the museum with those of the child and adolescent psychiatric centre.

Saturday 16 May 2026 until Sunday 11 October 2026 from 10:00 to 18:00

Connection between two worlds

The development of this new connecting space, with its boardwalk and Salamander Portal, took place in close collaboration with the children and young people of UKJA (ZAS). Audio maker Adriaan Severins captured this connection in a musical artwork, co-created with the young people of UKJA.

The result, “I Listen”, emerged from an encounter between two worlds: the lively, sometimes restless sounds of the child and adolescent psychiatric centre, and the calm, open sounds of the sculpture park. The children and young people recorded sounds within the hospital walls — fragments of everyday moments, voices, rhythms and echoes of their world. At the same time, Adriaan Severins listened to what unfolds outside in the museum park. In this audio tour, both worlds come together.

Step through the Salamander Portal into the museum zone Touchpoints. Put on your headphones, scan the QR code at the hammocks with your smartphone, and experience the audio tour at four different locations.
