Camiel Van Breedam. 7² x 2

18 October until 10 January 2010

An introduction to the objects of the Antwerp artist Camiel Van Breedam. EXTENDED UNTIL 10/01/2010 DUE TO GREAT SUCCESS!

Assemblage specialist and recycling artist Camiel Van Breedam takes spectators on a journey into his world in ‘7² x 2’. A world that is dominated by a close relationship with nature, which is an indictment of Western consumer society and focuses on social involvement instead. The exhibition shows 98 (=7² x 2) fragile constructions, which transcend the transience of our existence.

The Antwerp artist Camiel Van Breedam (b. 1936, Boom) already participated in an exhibition with various Belgian artists in 1974 in Middelheim Museum. The museum acquired his Sun Car (1974) in 1978 for its permanent collection. He has been creating assemblage art since the start of his career in 1956.
