Dreaming Under the Pedestal

Artistic investigations into the Antwerp Public Art Collection

The Antwerp Public Art Collection and the Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts, In Situ Department, are working together to explore the collection's artistic potential. The result this year is the publication Dreaming Under the Pedestal, as well as an exhibition of the proposed artistic interventions during Antwerp Art Weekend.

Artistic research

For this project, thirteen young artists delve into the narratives embedded in the public art collection pieces and the stories projected onto them. Their artistic research provides a reflection on the various ways in which art in public space influences and interacts with its environment. The project employs artistic research as a way to develop a deep and nuanced comprehension of the collection as a whole, individual works or specific aspects.
