Drawing from the collection
For Paul Kindersley (1985, United Kingdom), a line is both the beginning and end of every work of art. That gives an idea of just how important drawing is to this artist from London. Paul is active in performance, film, ceramics and storytelling, but drawing is never far away. You could also see that last year in his temporary colourful installation on the island in the park.
In his work, Paul explores topics such as gender, identity and popular culture. Always with a hint of irony and absurdity. As a one-off he is running a drawing workshop in the Middelheim Museum. It promises to be an exceptional session.
For his drawing workshop, Paul begins with the collection in the art park. He also plays with the roles of artist and model: in this workshop, you are simply both. Together with all participants you make a single large drawing. Lines turn into costumes, the drawing tells a new story and becomesa true performance!
