Outreach

The outreach activities play a key role in improving access to the museum’s basic functions. “Customisation” is a central aspect of this approach.

The museum also organises a wide range of activities for people of all ages, whether individual or in group. Maps, visitor brochures, workshops, guided visits and walks, courses… the programme includes something for everyone. We welcome art lovers as well as well as art aficionados, walkers and joggers, families… In fact, anyone who wants to learn more about modern and contemporary art, or wishes to be inspired by it or simply wants to enjoy it in a stunning park setting is more than welcome to explore the museum.

Part of the outreach programme, just like the rest of the museum activities, is free and highly accessible. The Middelheim Museum organises an outreach programme, which, possibly even more than other museums, is specialised in receiving visitors that have less skills or are less integrated when it comes to culture. The Middelheim Museum makes an ongoing effort to reach, receive and provide support for its very diverse target audiences, whether professionals or less experienced visitors.

The Middelheim Museum wants to reach and be accessible to as many people as possible, and seeks to establish relations with partners in the area surrounding the park, including the University of Antwerp and ZNA Middelheim. It also has an impact on the urban planning of the museum’s surroundings.

Inclusion of less evident audiences

The Middelheim Museum is working on diversifying its outreach programme even more.

Bij-buurten op het Kiel

The museum developed a three-year project with various partners to develop this community outreach programme.
