Artistic research
Twelve young artists each pick a work of art from the Art in the City collection and explore its meaning, origin, maker and materialization. Subsequently, they each formulate one hypothetical intervention or addition to this existing artwork in order to change our reading or appreciation of it.
- Rafaela Figurski Vieira examines the three king statues from Lode Vleeshouwers' 1962 monumental Nativity scene
- Árni Jónsson examines the Reclining Ox drom the same artwork
- Alessio Ragno Capone intervenes in Frans Jochems' 1949 Antelope for an artistic proposal
- Jiyoung Kim immerses herself in Cristina Iglesias' Deep Fountain (1999-2006)
- Mitya Proost departs from the similarities between Axel Wallenberg's Girl on a Blossoming Branch (1951) and Nick Hullegie's Penarie (2008)
- Gloria Sánchez Daza devises an intervention around Marcel Courbier's Girl with a Goat from 1943
- Malena Guerrieri draws inspiration from Simon Goossens' 1927 bronze plaque for August Snieders
- Frederique Kraus engages in a dialogue with Nadia Naveau's 2016 Silver Screen
- Locuratolo examines Luc Tuymans' 2010 mosaic Dead Skull
- Wang Tianjiao takes Luk Van Soom's 2002 story POMONA as a starting point
